Sunset Through Ted’s Window in Apt. 8
“So I have seen Passion and Vanity stamping the living magnanimous earth, but the earth did not alter her tides and her seasons for that.” H.Melville
Sept. 11 From My Life With the Chord Chemist
“SEPT. 11 Disaster: N.Y.C Attacked!!!! Twin Towers destroyed! Go to comfort Barb. TV: the news is riveting if horrifying.” That was all Ted was able to state in his datebook. A day of horror and disbelief reflected world wide, as the collective consciousness of much of the human race sustained a state of shock at the vile, senseless act of terrorism upon the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I didn’t know what else to write, I felt sick and I was trembling inside. Ted and I reeled from that nightmare for days, grateful only to have each other’s comfort. And although I would sometimes complain about the ubiquitous city noise, the ensuing silence was eerie. No airplanes. No helicopters. Just a faint trace of traffic.
